Gordon has two siblings, his elder brother Drew is also a professional basketball player himself. Gordon attended Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose California, played for the basketball team for four years, and went on to win the two sessions of basketball in the sophomore and the junior session.

He led his school into the third straight line title game in the second year, but his team lost in the inaugural Open Division Final. As a beginner and a junior back in 2009-10, Gordon scored an average point of 11.8 and 10.1 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game. Other than that he even competed in the school’s track as a thrower and played summer basketball for the Oakland soldiers.

Again in 2010-11, Gordon helped his school win the first state title in the men’s basketball team.  Other than that he also helped to capture the WACL regular session playoff crowns, CCS Division title, and Nor-Cal championship. Aaron played for every game and scored an average point of 16.4 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 3.6 blocks per game.

Let’s go to the very beginning phase of his career, the time back in 2014, on the 26th of June Aaron, was selected in the NBA draft by the Orland Magic, and on July 2nd signed with Orland Magic and joined the team for the summer league. On 31st March 2017, he went on to score 20 points out of 32 points, in the first half, of the magic 117-116 loss to the Boston Celtics, he even had 16 rebounds in the game. In the season finale of Mafic in April 2017, Gordon has 32 points, and 12 rebounds, in 113-109 winning points over the Detroit Pistons.

In his efforts, Gordon knocked down a career-high seven 3-pointers. On March 22, it was reported that Gordon had requested a trade from the Magic.

On March 25, 2021, Gordon and Gary Clark were traded to the Denver Nuggets in exchange for guards Gary Harris and R. J. Hampton and a future first-round pick. Gordon had played and started in 25 games and was averaging 14.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 4.2 assists in 29 minutes of action while shooting 37.5% from three-point range with the Magic for the season. On March 28, he made his debut in a 126–102 win against the Atlanta Hawks, logging 13 points and two rebounds in 21 minutes of action.
