At Greenwood Park Mall, three people were deadly shot and two were injured at the mall after a man with a rifle started shooting at a food court and killed a civilian.

Jim Ison, the chief of the Greenwood police department said that the man entered with a rifle and numerous magazines in the greenwood park mall and started shooting on Sunday evening. An armed spectator killed the four people that were present at the mall. Jim Ison told the reporters ” The real hero of the day is the citizen that was lawfully carrying a firearm in that food court and was able to stop to shooter almost as soon as he began.”
The people who were killed and injured include four females, one male, and also a 12-year-old girl who had minor injuries due to the shooting, her parents took her to the hospital. Police officials said that as of Sunday evening, the second injured victim is in stable condition after being hospitalized. The Greenwood Police Department trained its officials for the mass shootings and make them perform various mall exercises for preparing them for active shooting situations.

The policeman describes the armed spectator as a 22-year-old man. After getting a report of the shooting police officers visited the mall at about 6 PM. Greenwood Park Mall authorities search the mall if there were any other victims left but later they found that the shooting only took place at the food court police had doubts about a backpack that was lying in a bathroom near a food court.

Greenwood is a south residential area of Indianapolis with inhabitants of about 60,000. Mark Myers, the mayor of the town asked people for their prayers for the victims and the first responders he further added that ” This tragedy hit the core of our community.”
