Wimbledon’s title and No. 1 ranking helped Ash Barty win the WTA Player of the Year award for the second time in the voting results announced on Tuesday.
Emma Raducanu was named WTA Player of the Year after winning the US Open at the age of 18 and became the first player from the qualifying rounds to reach the Grand Slam title.
Barbora Krejcikova was named the Most Developed Player of the Year and shared the Double Team of the Year award with Katerina Siniakova. Krejcikova was the first woman since 2000 to win single and doubles tournaments at the French Open.
Carla Suarez Navarro is the Returning Player of the Year after returning from Hodgkin’s Lymphoma to play on tour and represent Spain in the Billie Jean King Cup final.
Barty also became WTA Player of the Year in 2019. This season, he has led the way with five trophies, including his second Grand Slam title at All England Club.
The 25-year-old Australian player also finished at number 1 in the end-of-year ratings for the third season in a row.
Krejcikova had never won a single trophy before taking three in 2021, including Roland Garros, and rose from number 65 by the end of 2020 to the top three.
Krejcikova and Siniakova were named Team Doubles of the Year for the second time, after 2018. They won the French Open, the WTA Player Finals and the Olympic gold medal together this year.
