Oliver Taylor Hawkins was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on February 17, 1972. His family moved to Laguna Beach, California, in 1976, where Hawkins grew up.

Hawkins had a brother, Jason, and a sister, Heather. He graduated from Laguna Beach High School in 1990. 

Before joining the band in 1997, he was the touring drummer for Sass Jordan and Alanis Morissette, as well as the drummer in the progressive experimental band Sylvia. 

In 2004, Hawkins formed his own side project, Taylor Hawkins and the Coattail Riders, in which he played drums and sang. He was voted “Best Rock Drummer” in 2005 by the United Kingdom drumming magazine Rhythm. 

Taylor Hawkins and his wife, Alison, married in 2005. They had three children together. They resided in Hidden Hills, California, after moving from Topanga Canyon in 2012. 

Hawkins released a self-titled LP along with his side project in 2006. He then released two more studio albums: 

He recorded the drum tracks for the Coheed and Cambria album Good Apollo I’m Burning Star IV, Volume Two: No World for Tomorrow. He also toured with Coheed and Cambria, during the months of the album 

Apart from his musical work, Taylor lived in a Hidden Hills mansion having a 7000 square-foot area. The estate nearly cost 2.7 million U.S Dollars. 

Hawkins mansion has a barn, tree yard, swimming pool, and a spa. Hawkin’s mansion was once owned by America’s Got Talent judge Howie Mandel for 3.099 million US Dollars.  

Hawkins was voted the “Best Rock Drummer” in 2005, by the British drumming magazine Rhythm. He died on March 25, 2022, in Colombia, due to Chest pain.
