Floyd Joy Mayweather Jr. is a former American boxer and boxing promoter. He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan (1977). He belongs to a boxer family.

His father, Floyd Mayweather (Sr), is a well-known former welterweight contender. Floyd's uncle, Jeff, and the late Roger Mayweather were professional boxers.

Growing up in a boxing environment, he never considers another thing as a profession. He dropped out of Ottawa Hills High School and decided on boxing to earn a living.

In October 1996, Mayweather won his first professional bout. Emanuel Steward said that very few had more talent than this kid.

In 1998, Floyd defeated  Genaro Hernández and earned his first world title (the WBC super featherweight championship) with an eighth-round technical knockout of The Ringworld #1. 

He was one of the younger recipients to win The Ring's Fighter of the Year award. The Money Team Racing under NASCAR Cup Series owns by Floyd. 

He retired from boxing (1996 and 2017) by making an undefeated score and with 15 world championships.
