Salt Bae operates more than 22 Nusr-Et restaurants worldwide. Last year, his London restaurant’s prices shocked everyone.
Nusr-et Gokce, popularly known as ‘Salt Bae,’ a Turkish chef, has posted a video of a 24-karat gold-coated steak, just days after taking a storm on social media with a 1.3 crore food bill. The video was posted to his Instagram story with the caption “Federal Bank- 24K gold.” The social media sensation became famous for the way he salts his steak before opening a chain of restaurants in his honour. Throughout August, his business Nusret UK Limited released its financial statements, revealing a two-million-pound profit (Rs 22.21 crore).
This same steak is pictured on a chopping board according to what appears to be one his kitchens in the video, which has since gone viral. The chef owns and operates more than 22 Nusr-Et restaurants around the world.
The Instagram story comes just days after the restaurant owner shared a food bill from his Abu Dhabi restaurant, which left internet users stunned by the amount mentioned. It was revealed that 14 guests paid 140,584 pounds (Rs 1.3 crore), implying that the cost per person was 10,041 pounds (Rs 9.69 lakh).
The most expensive items on the menu included Bordeaux wine, baklava, and the trademark gold-plated Istanbul steak.
Salt Bae captioned the photo, “Quality is never expensive.”
After posting the photo, the chef earned a barrage of criticism. “This is ridiculous; that amount of money could save an entire village from starvation. This is dreadful “one user wrote “I hope you pay your employees proportionately well,” said another.
The price levels of the Turkish chef’s hotel in London would have shocked everyone in September 2021.
