According to Variety, the decision was taken by Drake and his superiors and the Grammys did not respect the request, although the reason for the decision was not immediately known. Rather than nominating the highest number of candidates, as did the Academy when it suddenly decided to increase the top four categories from eight to 10 last month, voting for those two categories of rap music would go ahead with only four nominees. , probably because voting time has begun; Grammy votes cast by members voting Monday morning.
Drake’s selection of nominations was unusual, however. While it is uncertain whether he chose not to send the artist Certified Lover Boy or any of the songs from the major genres, album, song or record of the year his absence from any of these categories seems to suggest he did not. Drake also cast a shadow over the Grammys as he spoke of his welcome in 2019, when ‘God’s Plan’ won Best Rap Song. The awards show that the producers cut off his microphone after he said the prizes were empty.
The 64th Grammy Awards will be held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on January 31, 2022.
