Joni Mitchell surprised attendees at the Newport Folk Festival. After more than 20 years, she delivered her first full set this weekend. She sang alongside Brandie Carlile the country star.

Earlier this year the show is continued by Joni Mitchell’s stage cameo. At the MusiCares pre-Grammy gala, artists paid a tribute to her by performing her life works. Later she also joined the artists. Those moments were marked as the rare public appearances by Mitchell.
Joni Mitchell suffered a brain aneurysm in 2015 that left her temporarily unable to speak. For curing it she took extensive physical therapies. Mitchell and Carlile sang duet songs at the festival. They also sang Mitchell’s songs “A Case of You” and “Both Sides Now“. The Canadian-born folk icon thrilled the audience. As she played on an electric guitar the lengthy solo from “Just Like This Train”.
Joni Mitchell before this last appeared at an annual festival at Newport in Rhode Island in 1969. At the charity gala, the revolutionary singer and songwriter were honored as MusiCares’ Person of the Year, earlier this year. Preceding the Grammy’s where she gave a small performance.

The next night Joni Mitchell appeared at Grammy Awards in a red leather beret, sunglasses, and floral pants. She received the Grammy for Best Historical Album.
Mitchell was born in Western Canada’s small town. She started playing in small clubs and later she moved to Los Angeles. There she became an essential person in the 1960s Laurel Canyon music scene and beyond. She gave rise to the phenomenon of the solitary. Her music pours out emotions on stage. Therefore, she is considered one of the most iconic singers and songwriters of her generation.
On Joni Mitchell’s 50th anniversary, her seminal album “Blue” charted number one on iTunes, last summer. While voicing her own best songs on the MusiCares red carpet over the milestone. Earlier this year she also said that her albums are gaining more popularity.
