Jacqueline Avant, the wife of music star Clarence Avant, was shot dead during an attack on their Beverly Hills home. She was 81 years old.
Beverly Hills police said they received a call about a shooting at 1100 block in Meteor Place around 2:30am. When police arrived the unknown suspect was shot with gunshot wounds.

According to police, Jacqueline Avant was taken to a local hospital where she died. When police arrived, the suspects were not present.
A Netflix spokeswoman confirmed to USA Today that Jacqueline Avant had been the victim of a robbery. Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos is married to Jacqueline’s daughter Nicole Avant.
In a statement sent by USA TODAY, the Avant and Sarandos families thanked everyone “for their love, support and sympathy for Jacqueline.”
The death of Jacqueline Avant was first reported by TMZ.
“The city of Beverly Hills and the Beverly Hills Police Department are offering their condolences to the families of the victims,” police wrote in a press release on Wednesday.

Former president Bill Clinton has criticized him on Twitter.
“Jackie Avant has been an amazing woman, Clarence’s great partner and mother of Alex and Nicole, an active citizen and a dear friend of mine with Hillary for 30 years,” Clinton said. “He inspired inspiration, respect and love for everyone who knew her. We are very sad. You will miss her very much.”
