The final franchise window for players for the VIVO Indian Premier League 2022 season closed on November 30, 2021.
A total of 27 players were kept in their franchises before the big Indian Premier League auction, which will see ten teams battling among themselves for top cricketing skills.
With an INR 90 crore salary cap available at each major auction, eight franchises were eligible to retain up to 4 players with 3 Indians, 2 overseas players and 2 undefeated Indians.

Each of the eight franchises has used the Player Retention option and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Delhi Capitals (DC), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Mumbai Indians (MI) have chosen to retain 4 players each. Rajasthan Royals (RR), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) retained 3 players each while the Punjab Kings (PBKS) retained 2. PBKS therefore has the highest fund available at INR 72 crore while Delhi Capitals has at least INR 47.50 to be used at auction. Of the 27 retained players, 8 are overseas and 4 are undocumented Indians.
