The American League defeated the National League for the tenth time in a row in the 2022 All-Star Game, which was played on Tuesday at Dodger Stadium.

Giancarlo Stanton wins MLB-All Star Game in MVP 2022

Giancarlo Stanton, a batter with the New York Yankees, was chosen MVP after going 1-for-2 and hitting a two-run home ball in the fourth inning to tie the game. The Minnesota Twins’ Byron Buxton then hit the winning single home run. Stanton, a native of Los Angeles, received support there.

It was Giancarlo Stanton’s sixth All-Star Game of his career and his first since 2017, the year he won the NL MVP award. He joins Mariano Rivera (2013) and Derek Jeter (2000) as the third member of the Yankees to ever have the honor of being named All-Star Game MVP.

The game on Tuesday was supposed to be an offensive exhibition, but pitching took center stage. The  National League (NL) built a 2-0 lead in the first inning but didn’t get another hit until the eighth. With the exception of the explosions in the fourth inning, the AL managed eight hits overall but never really threatened to add additional runs to the score.

With a 64-28 record and a 13-game lead in the AL East, the Yankees have the best record in the majors. New York has its sights set on the postseason as the second half of the season approaches in an effort to return to the World Series following its last title victory in 2009.
