Cyclone Jawad: Issues Orange Warning For 5 Odisha Districts

Cyclone Jawad: Issues Orange Warning

As Odisha was spared from a tremor in the vicinity of Cyclone Jawad, which intensified into a deep depression, the Indian Environment Department (IMD) predicted heavy rain activity in many parts of the state on Sunday.

Like IMD, after weakening of the depression, the remnants of Cyclone Jawad will turn into a depression. It is possible to travel from the northeastern wards and reach the coast of Odisha near Puri in the afternoon.

Like IMD, after weakening of the depression, the remnants of Cyclon Jawad will turn into a depression. It is possible to travel from the northeastern wards and reach the coast of Odisha near Puri in the afternoon.

Earlier, the devastation of Hurricane Jawad had swept north-northeast at a speed of 11 km/h within the last six hours.

“It is very likely to move north-northeast wards along Odisha coast to west coast of Bengal and weaken into a low pressure area within the next 12 hours,” the IMD said.

The Meteorological Department has predicted that there will be moderate to heavy rains in many parts of Odisha today. An ‘orange warning’ of heavy to very heavy rain has been heard in five districts – Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur.

Similarly, IMD has also issued ‘Yellow Warning’ for heavy rains in seven areas including Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Angul, Cuttack, Jajpur, Khordha and Puri.
